The rap world is never short on drama, but this latest twist feels straight out of a reality TV show. Now that Kodak Black is officially a free agent after parting ways with Capitol Records, labels are scrambling to get his signature. Among the most eager suitors? None other than Young Thug, who recently put out a massive public pitch to bring Kodak into the YSL Records family, promising he’d give the Florida rapper “whatever he thinks he wants.”
Well, Kodak heard him loud and clear, and his counter-offer is nothing short of legendary.
During a recent Instagram Live session, Kodak didn’t hold back when fans asked him about Thugger’s open invitation. He laid down two very specific, jaw-dropping conditions:

Yes, you read that correctly. Kodak doesn’t just want an unprecedented nine-figure bag; he specifically wants to cook up a joint project with Thug’s current girlfriend, R&B singer Mariah The Scientist.
To understand why Kodak can demand this kind of money, you have to look at his track record. After a massive eight-year, six-album run with Atlantic Records, Kodak shifted over to Capitol Records in 2022 in another multi-million dollar deal. He dropped his Capitol debut When I Was Dead in 2023, followed by a handful of other projects, before capping off his contract with Kodak the Blessing in early June 2026.
Now completely independent, he holds all the cards.
Young Thug’s initial pitch on X (formerly Twitter) was bold: “If he would do a deal with me, I would give that boy whateva he think he want #NoCizzy.”
It’s safe to say Thug might not have anticipated Kodak’s specific terms. While the $100 million price tag is standard superstar posturing, throwing Mariah The Scientist into the mix adds an incredibly hilarious layer of competitive tension.
While it’s highly likely Kodak is just trolling or keeping the internet entertained, a YSL partnership would be monumental for hip-hop. However, satisfying these specific demands leaves a few massive questions on the table:
One thing is for certain: Kodak Black knows exactly how to keep himself at the center of the conversation. Whether this deal actually happens or just lives on as a classic internet moment, the ball is firmly back in Young Thug’s court.
