Brooklyn-born rapper Desiigner, best known for his 2016 breakout hit “Panda,” is back in police custody. For the second time in just four months, the 29-year-old artist is facing serious domestic violence allegations, this time involving a weapon and a terrifying pursuit.

Desiigner, born Sidney Royel Selby III, was arrested on Wednesday, July 15, in Horry County, South Carolina. According to public arrest records, he remains in custody and is currently charged with:

  • Second-degree domestic violence
  • Three counts of malicious injury to animals/personal property

The Details of the Incident

According to local South Carolina news station WBTW 13, police responded to a domestic dispute that escalated into violence. The alleged victim told authorities that she and Desiigner got into an argument at their residence after he began ripping televisions off the wall.

The situation quickly turned dangerous when Desiigner allegedly used a hammer to smash the woman’s cell phones, cutting off her ability to call for help. Fearing for her safety, the woman grabbed a child and fled toward a neighbor’s house.

The police report details a harrowing chase: the victim claims Desiigner pursued her down the street, pushed her to the ground, and threw her purse over a fence. While she was able to break free and find refuge inside the neighbor’s home, Desiigner’s alleged rampage didn’t stop there. He reportedly used both a hammer and a screwdriver to vandalize the neighbor’s vehicles.

A Concerning Pattern

This arrest marks a disturbing trend for the rapper. Just four months ago, in March 2026, Desiigner was arrested for third-degree domestic violence following an altercation with the exact same woman.

Following that March incident, a disturbing 911 call placed by Desiigner himself was leaked online. In the audio, the rapper could be heard screaming at the woman, telling her to end her own life, while simultaneously telling the dispatcher that he was experiencing suicidal ideation. He was previously released on a $1,500 bond for that charge.

A Note on Accountability & Mental Health

While the culture frequently discusses the intersection of mental health and hip-hop, the recurring nature of these allegations highlights a critical boundaries crisis. Mental health struggles require urgent resources and empathy, but they can never be used to excuse or minimize terrorizing women and children within our communities.

What’s Next

Desiigner is scheduled to appear in court on October 16, 2026, to face these new charges. Representatives for the rapper and the Horry County Sheriff’s Office have not yet publicly responded to requests for comment.
