MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Family, friends, and members of the hip-hop community gathered in Memphis on Tuesday (June 30) to celebrate the life of Grammy-nominated producer Tay Keith, who was laid to rest following his unexpected passing earlier this month.

Among those in attendance were Sexyy Red, BlocBoy JB, and acclaimed producer Turbo, all of whom shared moments from the emotional day on social media.

Before the funeral service, Sexyy Red posted a video of herself dressed in black while listening to Lil Durk’s “Death Ain’t Easy” as she traveled to the homegoing celebration. BlocBoy JB also shared a selfie on his way to the service, captioning the post “#LLTK” in honor of the late producer. Producer Turbo later shared a copy of the funeral program, offering another glimpse into the memorial.

Born BryTavious Chambers, Tay Keith passed away on June 18 at the age of 29. According to authorities, police discovered his body inside his apartment in Nashville, Tennessee, after conducting a welfare check.

Officials have not released an official cause of death, though investigators have stated that foul play is not suspected.

The news of Tay Keith’s death sent shockwaves throughout the music industry, with artists, producers, and fans mourning the loss of one of hip-hop’s most influential producers of his generation.

Shortly after his passing, Tay Keith’s family released a heartfelt statement remembering the man behind the music.

“BryTavious was a beloved son, brother, uncle, family member, and friend. While the world knew him as Tay Keith, his family knew him as BryTavious—a source of love, strength, laughter, and guidance.”

The family continued by expressing gratitude for the impact he made throughout his life.

“We take comfort in knowing that his legacy will live on through the music he created, the opportunities he provided, and the lives he touched. We respectfully ask for privacy and continued prayers for his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Throughout his career, Tay Keith helped shape the sound of modern hip-hop, producing records for some of the industry’s biggest stars and earning widespread recognition for his hard-hitting production style. His work influenced countless artists and left an undeniable mark on the genre.
